One of my dad’s colleagues told me to read this article about Gerard J. Arpey yesterday when I went to lunch with them. He knowns I’m a big fan of Arpey’s and said that, even though he knows very little about the man, he believes that he’s a man of good morals who truly did the right thing and was upset to see him leave the airline. I couldn’t put it better myself.
Clearly being one of the best CEOs in the industry, this article indicates that not only did Arpey see bankruptcy as a morally wrong action to take, but that he resigned with no severance package, as well.
P.S. If you ever had a terrible experience with the airline, although I understand how it can negatively affect your perception of the company, try to give this article a solid read. You might finish reading it thinking, “Hey, we need more CEOs like him.”
